The
4th joint meeting of ASSBI and INS
The
Social Brain
Sky
City, Auckland, New Zealand
Wednesday
6th - Saturday 9th July 2011
Invitation
For
the first time the International Neuropsychological
Society (INS) and the Australian Society for the
Study of Brain Impairment (ASSBI) join forces to
present an international meeting in New Zealand.
This is our 4th Pacific Rim Meeting and promises
to be a stimulating and rewarding experience. The
conference mixes workshops, keynote speakers and
free papers on any topic relevant to brain impairment,
its assessment and remediation, ranging from theoretical
to applied issues. The theme for the conference
is "the social brain". This has been chosen
to reflect growing interest in the neuropsychology
of social processes as well as the need to consider
assessment and remediation in context.
The
conference commences with a series of half day workshops
by eminent researchers and clinicians in the field
of cognition, social processes and rehabilitation.
We are delighted to have Prof Vicki Anderson (Royal
Children's Hospital, Depts of Psychology & Paediatrics,
University of Melbourne),
Dr Tim Feeney (New York Neurobehavioral Resource
Project, USA), Prof John Hodges (PoWMRI, Australia),
and Prof Jason Mattingley (Queensland Brain Institute
and the School of Psychology, University of QLD)
presenting their latest work.
We
also have a prestigious line up of keynote speakers
including Prof Erin Bigler (Brigham Young University,
USA), Prof Mike Corballis (Uni of Auckland, NZ),
Prof James Flynn (Dept of Politics, University of
Otago, NZ) and Prof Hans Markovitch (University
of Bielefeld).
The
conference location is at Sky City, Auckland, a
cosmopolitan city in New Zealand's North Island,
which affords great dining and entertainment. Snowfields
and the beautiful NZ countryside are just a short
trip away and provide a charming holiday destination
if you are able to stay longer.
We
are hoping to attract at least 500 delegates to
the 2011 conference.
